The NASCAR iRacing Series visited Loudon, New Hampshire for it's 20th race on the schedule at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The challenging one-mile long oval has been a successful track for Hillhaven Motorsports in the past, as reining series champion Bryan Mabrey collected his 3rd win of the season there last year. This time, however, it was team owner Brayden Hill's turn to visit victory lane at the "Magic Mile." The road to victory lane was one of incredible challenge and overcoming mistakes for the driver of the iRacingiFlag Ford Mustang. Under the first caution of the day, Hill missed his pit box after being unable to see his pit sign. He had to come around again and pit, causing him to restart 27th. In the 5 laps following the restart, Hill climbed all the way to 15th, often making aggressive and bold 3-wide moves such as the one pictured above. Brayden's car suffered significant damage throughout the race, including contact with the wall after getting loose exiting turn 2, a trouble spot for many drivers during the race. Hill managed to climb his way through the field on 4 separate occasions, recovering from multiple self-inflicted mistakes. Late in the race, while racing for second position, the car got incredibly loose exiting turn 2 and nearly spun out (pictured below). Hill was able to make a great save and continue racing, and less than a lap later a caution came out that revived his race.
Following a rash of cautions, Brayden Hill found himself in the top 5 with less than 25 laps to go. The speed in the car was there, however the team felt some uncertainty going into the final restarts. Hill was able to fight his way to second place, where he slowly ran down the leader. Then, entering turn 3, the #19 car of Kyle Sosnoski got sideways, spinning down into Brayden's line (see image below). Unable to react fast enough, the two made contact resulting in yet another caution that led to an overtime finish.
It was only after two overtime restarts that Brayden Hill finally made it around to the white flag, and then the checkered after leading only 21 of 159 laps. This was his second win of the 2019 season, and the third win with iRacingiFlag as the primary sponsor on the car. "Having iRacingiFlag as the primary on our cars seems to be a good luck charm..." noted Hill in a post-race interview, "...every time they sponsor our cars, we win." iRacingiFlag will be the team's primary sponsor for next week's races at Pocono Raceway. They will also sponsor races later in the season, including Bristol, the Charlotte Road Course, and ISM Raceway in Phoenix.
